In the Kano Plains of Kisumu, the soil is "Black Cotton"—clay that swells and traps water. Every rainy season, the Nyando River bursts its banks.
For the Orongo Women’s & Orphans’ Village, this isn't just about wet feet. It’s a health crisis.
The Threat: Traditional pit latrines fill with floodwater, collapsing and spreading raw sewage into the living areas.
The Risk: Cholera and Typhoid outbreaks are a yearly terror including venomous snakes like cobras and black mambas. .
The Heartbreak: Our elderly "Gogos" (grandmothers) struggle to climb muddy, slippery mounds to use the toilet. They deserve dignity, not danger.

🚫 Flood-Proof Technology:
Raised Architecture: Toilets are elevated 60cm (3 steps) above the ground, keeping them dry even during peak floods.
Sealed Biodigesters: Unlike old pits, these watertight concrete tanks digest waste biologically. No leaks. No groundwater contamination.
♿ Dignity for the Elderly:
The "Gogo" Suite: We are installing US-Style Flush Toilets with concrete ramps and steel grab bars. No more squatting in pain. No more climbing steps.
🛡️ 10-Year Sustainability Plan:
Your donation doesn't just build it; it maintains it. We have budgeted for a 10-Year Plus Maintenance Fund to cover daily cleaning, repairs, and security.
"The Foundation Pillar"
Only 2 Spots Available
Impact: You are essentially sponsoring an entire latrine block (North or South).
Recognition: Your name/family name permanently plaqued on the building structure.
Includes: VIP project updates and a personal video message from the Village Director.
"The Dignity Defender"
Only 5 Spots Available
Impact: You are funding the "Elderly Accessible Suites"
The flush toilets, plumbing, roof tanks, and steel ramps. You are giving the gift of pain-free sanitation.
"The Flood Shield"
Impact: Funds the Heavy Civil Works—the truckloads of hardcore rocks, waterproof cement, and steel reinforcement that stop the soil from crushing the tank.
"The Hygiene Hero"
Impact: Covers 1 Month of Operational Costs. This pays for the cleaner’s stipend, soap, bio-enzymes, and safety gear. You keep the village disease-free for 30 days.
"The Brick Layer"
Impact: Buys 1 Bag of Cement or 5 Feet of Piping. Every single brick counts. If we all chip in a brick, the wall gets built.

Where does the money go? This project is executed by Positiviti Foundation. We believe in radical transparency.
25% Risk Reserve: Kisumu's "Black Cotton" soil is notorious for trapping trucks. We have budgeted for transport delays and rain contingencies so the project never stops.
Local Labor: We employ local Kisumu masons, putting money back into the community.
Government Approved: Our designs are compliant with NEMA and Kisumu County Public Health standards.
Long term employment. We will employ local people to maintain the latrines everyday. By creating a long term endowment for maintenance we ensure the system will last for decades
Positiviti Foundation is proud to support the initiatives of Give a Hand Africa. Our goal is to provide solutions to communities that not only lift up the community as a whole, but also provides jobs for the village locals. Some of the jobs will be temporary but others will be long term.
By creating long term jobs the village begins to experience the economic benefit of the locals earning an income. They in turn spend that money within the village which creates more economic prosperity.
As we better a community, more jobs are created. The more jobs created the better a commuity.
